What each route is
Thailand Privilege: a membership programme whose official site separates Visa Membership and Non-Visa Membership and publishes current package terms. The official site is the source of truth for package names, fees, validity and points.
LTR: a BOI-administered long-term resident programme. The official BOI LTR site describes four main categories: Wealthy Global Citizen, Wealthy Pensioner, Work-from-Thailand Professional and Highly-Skilled Professional, with dependants able to apply under the published rules.

Current LTR headline terms
- The BOI LTR site describes a 10-year renewable visa, granted initially as permission to stay for five years and extendable for a further five years if qualifications are maintained.
- The published programme includes one-year reporting and multiple-entry treatment; the exact reporting and issuance process is set by the LTR unit.
- Permission to work is not a blanket feature for every applicant: people working for a Thai entity must follow the LTR work-permission process, while the Work-from-Thailand category has its own conditions.
- The BOI LTR site states a THB 50,000 processing fee per person for a 10-year visa when collected in Thailand; overseas or e-visa fees can differ.

Tax and work: do not use a shortcut
LTR tax benefits are category-specific and depend on the current rules and your facts. Thailand Privilege membership does not by itself decide residence, source, remittance or treaty treatment. This comparison does not calculate tax and does not turn an official programme description into personal tax advice.
Likewise, a membership card is not a substitute for permission to work. Confirm the permitted activity and any work-permit requirement with the relevant Thai authority before working for a Thai employer or client.
How to choose
Start with LTR if you can document the qualifications of the relevant BOI category and want a programme whose screening and conditions are assessed by the LTR unit.
Start with Privilege if the published membership model and its paid services fit your situation, after confirming that the membership’s current terms match your intended stay and activities.
Compare another route if neither official programme fits your documents. A DTV, Non-O, work route or another visa has its own rules; do not assume that a cheaper fee means easier approval.
