What can be verified officially
As of 1 August 2026, after cross-checking the current Thai/English MFA notice, Thai Immigration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Business Development do not publish a national list of “approved visa agents”. A company registration proves that a legal entity exists; it does not certify immigration expertise, honesty or a guaranteed outcome.
- Visa rules and application: compare the offer with the official Thai e-Visa portal, the responsible Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate, and Thai Immigration. The e-Visa portal expressly says that submission does not guarantee approval and fees are non-refundable.
- Private-school status: search the exact school and course in the OPEC approved-school register. See the school-verification guide for what that record does and does not prove.
- Company existence: search the exact Thai legal name or registration number in the DBD DataWarehouse. Match the result to the entity named on the quote, invoice and payment instructions.
- Routine reporting: Immigration publishes its own online services. A claim that an agent is the only possible route for TM47 or TM30 is not an official rule.
Red flags that conflict with the published process
- Guaranteed approval. The deciding government officer retains discretion; an intermediary cannot replace that decision.
- Fabricated or altered evidence. This includes false employment, marriage, birth, school, bank or address documents.
- A promise to “fix” a missing financial requirement temporarily. Immigration's published retirement and Thai-family criteria require applicant-linked evidence and specified holding periods. A short-term balance supplied by an intermediary is not the published requirement.
- A school name that cannot be matched to OPEC's record. A similar brand name, different address or unrelated course is not the same official record.
- No itemised written quote. Government fees, third-party charges and service fees should be distinguishable. Agent service prices are commercial and are not set by Immigration.
- Payment to a person unrelated to the contracting entity. A DBD registration alone does not validate a payment request; the names should be reconciled.
- No receipt for a passport or original document. The old page claimed universal passport-holding periods, but no national official timetable supports that claim. The responsible mission or office publishes the actual process.
Three common claims checked
“The agent is connected, so approval is certain”
No official source supports that promise. The e-Visa portal says an application may still be refused, and Immigration decides extensions and permission to stay.
“This school is MOE approved”
The official check is the OPEC register plus the school's licence and course documents. The old page's claims about a universal “Bor Tor 5” authorisation, a fixed attendance threshold and a blanket monthly-reporting rule could not be verified from a current national official publication and have been removed.
“I can renew tourist status indefinitely”
Entry and extensions are discretionary decisions, not a guaranteed subscription. The current visa-exemption allocation also remains a moving issue: as of 1 August 2026, the government's 19 July 2026 update and the Thai MFA notice still say the replacement notices are pending Royal Gazette publication and will take effect 15 days after publication. Promises based on a proposed rule rather than its effective date are unreliable.
If money or documents are already at risk
The appropriate channel depends on what happened. These are official contact points, not a prediction about whether a complaint will succeed:
- Immediate tourist assistance or suspected fraud: the Tourist Police Bureau publishes hotline 1155 as of 1 August 2026.
- Immigration-status verification: Immigration's official English and Thai contact listings publish Immigration Police hotline 1178 as of 1 August 2026; Jomtien Immigration is the local office for Pattaya cases.
- Special-investigation complaints: the DSI complaint page explains its channels. The old page's claimed fixed monetary threshold was not supported by that official process and has been removed.
- Legal-status or criminal exposure: a qualified Thai lawyer can explain case-specific rights and consequences. This site does not give legal advice.

No. It confirms a registered entity and published corporate details. It does not certify visa competence, government connections or future performance.
What is a fair agent fee?
There is no official Pattaya agent-fee schedule. As of 1 August 2026, we found no official source that validates the old page's price bands, so they remain excluded. Compare itemised quotes and verify the government component against the responsible official office.
Can an agent guarantee a visa or extension?
No published official process gives an agent that authority. A correctly prepared file can reduce avoidable errors, but the government office decides the application.
