Scope: visa application versus extension

An embassy or e-Visa application for entry is not the same process as an annual extension inside Thailand. The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Savannakhet's bilingual page, updated 10 March 2026 and checked 1 August 2026, lists the passport biodata page, a recent photo, marriage certificate, Thai spouse identity evidence, Thai spouse house registration, and financial evidence for its Non-O application.

National extension checklist

The Immigration Bureau bilingual checklist, checked 1 August 2026, lists:

The checklist also allows officers to request further evidence. A local office can therefore require a current office-specific arrangement, but this page no longer presents unverified Pattaya photocopy, clothing or counter practices as national rules.

Financial rule for a foreign husband

For a foreign husband married to a Thai wife, the Immigration Bureau checklist and public handbook, checked 1 August 2026, require either average income of at least THB 40,000 per month or at least THB 400,000 held in a Thai bank account for the previous 2 months. The bilingual checklist also describes a combination route totalling at least THB 400,000 for the year.

For the deposit route, the checklist calls for a Thai bank letter and a passbook copy updated on the application date showing the required balance. It does not support the former page's claim that a letter aged 7–14 days is a national standard.

The published checklist is specifically framed for staying with a Thai wife. Applicants in a different family configuration should use the Immigration category and checklist that applies to them instead of assuming identical financial rules.

Attendance and relationship evidence

The Immigration Bureau checklist, checked 1 August 2026, says the applicant and spouse must appear in person for an interview. It also requires the relationship to exist both legally and in fact. The former suggestion that some renewals can proceed with the foreign applicant alone could not be confirmed and has been withdrawn.

Fee and processing claims

The Immigration Bureau public handbook, checked 1 August 2026, lists an extension application fee of THB 1,900. Its published service time begins only after an officer has determined that the submitted documents are complete.

No current official source reopened for this review confirmed the former Jomtien arrival times, same-day passport return, preferred weekdays, total queue estimates, or a universal 30-day application window. Those claims have been removed.

Foreign marriage records

The national checklist identifies the foreign marriage certificate and Khor Ror 22 family-status record for a marriage registered abroad. Legalisation and translation steps vary with the issuing country and document chain; verify those steps with the responsible Thai embassy and Thai legalisation authority before relying on a foreign record.
