What the official database proves

OPEC's public system, reopened 1 August 2026, is designed to search and introduce licensed private schools under OPEC, including formal and non-formal schools. A result can show the legal school identity, OPEC affiliation, school type, and registered location. The Ministry of Education data catalogue separately publishes private-school licence data.

A database result proves that the listed school record exists. It does not by itself prove that a particular course, agent, payment request, or promised visa outcome is approved.

Verification steps

Ask for the exact Thai legal name and school code shown on the licence.
Search that name or code in the OPEC licensed-school database.
Match the result's province, district, school type, and registered address to the documents you received.
Ask which authority will issue the visa-support approval letter and obtain the institution's registration certificate and signed acceptance or enrolment letter.
Confirm the required documents with the Thai embassy or Immigration office handling your application; requirements vary by study route and place of application.

Official ED document pattern

The Washington embassy's page, updated by the embassy in July 2026 and reopened 1 August 2026, lists letters from the relevant Ministry of Education authority for school-level and short-course routes, plus a signed school enrolment letter.
The Hanoi embassy's private-institution guidance, reopened 1 August 2026, lists an approval letter from the Ministry of Education or another designated authority, the institution's registration certificate, and an acceptance letter.
Muay Thai and different education levels have route-specific supporting documents. Do not assume a language-school document pack fits another route.

Claims that could not be re-verified

The previous Pattaya package-price and “below market” figures were not supported by the official sources reopened for this update.
No current official source reopened here established a universal weekly-hours or attendance-percentage threshold for every ED course.
Claims of a specific Chonburi crackdown, mass cancellations, real-time digital attendance matching, or automatic language tests were not confirmed and are no longer presented as current facts.
The reopened sources did not establish a universal school-transfer window or a guaranteed way to preserve status after a school closes.

Visa purpose and duration

The Washington and Hanoi embassy pages reopened 1 August 2026 describe Non-Immigrant ED as a study, training, seminar, or curriculum-related internship route. The Hanoi page publishes a 90-day single-entry visa validity and stay period; the Washington page also publishes 90 days of visa validity. These are embassy-issuance rules, not a promise that an in-country extension will be granted.

If your school shut down

Contact the school regulator and the Immigration office responsible for your permission to stay. The official sources reopened for this update do not publish a universal transfer or grace period, so do not rely on an agent's informal deadline.

ED vs DTV decision

ED is documented by the embassies as an education route. DTV is a separate visa with separate evidence and permitted purposes. Compare the official criteria rather than choosing ED as a substitute for another activity.

Extension day at Jomtien with ED
